4ZzZ Radio Station Brisbane
.. Various Artists: Melbourne Vol. 1. (Kunsthaus / AMRAP) - If this compilation is anything to go by Kunsthaus Records are of a like mind with 4ZzZ. Very few of these artists I imagine would be on your radar and Kunsthaus has gone to a bit of trouble to find the stuff that you aren't listening to yet, lurking in the small venues and warehouses of Melbourne. Indie, electro, folk, postpunk, psychedelia, math rock all find a home on this disc (sometimes uneasily rubbing shoulders with genres that seem like their natural enemies :) ). This isn't a smooth, finished production so much as a bag of treasures, looted at random, and to be pored over in privacy. I imagine there will be a lot more in the future, where these came from.
